PompAdapter can double your charging speed

PompAdapter

When you plug your smartphone or tablet in for recharging, you might not know how fast it’s really charging and if it’s doing so at its proper or even maximum speed, particularly if you are not using the original cable or charger. PompAdapter is a new little adapter that’s trying to come to market that will possibly boost the charging as much as 200% and even tell you how fast it’s charging.

The boost in power is made possible by a proprietary smart IC integrated into the adapter. And according to Pompa Adapter co-founder Brian Miller, the integrated IC actually detaches your devices charging mode and changes it to provide the maximum current allowable to shorten charging time.

Here are a few examples where PompAdapter can be helpful. One might be with certain Samsung smartphones. The company says if you are not using the original Samsung charger the power supply interface cannot match Samsung’s charging modes and will not likely supply the maximum current it needs. With PompaAdapter should be able to use any charger/adapter.

Another example might be where a supplied charger and USB notebook ports are rated at 500 mA, yet the phone is capable of taking a faster charge. PompAdapter can boost that charge to whatever the phone will accept, which might be as much as two times faster.

Also, some generic chargers have no smart detach function; so if it’s rated at 500 mA charging power, 500 mA is all you’ll get. Here, PompAdapter can boost it too.

Charging Rate LCD

Charging I found has always been a mystery. There are companies like Logiix that have integrated LEDs into their cables like the Piston Connect to know that your device is charging, but PompAdapter has taken it one step farther by placing a live charging speed LCD display right on the top so you’ll know what’s being pulled through.  It will even turn off automatically when your device is fully charged.

PompAdapter seems like a great idea to have when travelling. Even if you have all your original adapters and they put out all the right power, having one gadget that will make sure your devices charge at equal or better rates means you don’t have to lug them all around with you.

If PompAdapter works as advertised, it will make for a nice addition to any gadget arsenal.

Indiegogo – Closing Soon!

PompAdapter is compatible with iOS and Android devices. It’s USB 3.0 and Quick Charge compatible and can be used with your existing cables. It’s available for pre-order through an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign for just five more days.

The company, San Francisco-based Pompa Adapter, has already surpassed its funding goal of $3,500 by over 730% but there are still some units available at the early bird price of only US$19 (with discounts available for multiple units) and you get free shipping with that too.

Expected delivery is August 2016, but the company has indicated that availability could be as early as July.
